In 1956, his company attacked and cleareda hostile stronghold in the Chephema village of Kohima district in Naga land. 2nd Lt Ramanhad not yet turned 22 but his gallant action, courage, leadership and selfless devotion earned him Ashok Chakra Posthumously.
