A team of 9 Special Forces regiment under the leadership of Captain Arun Singh Jasrotia was carrying out counter – insurgency operations in Lolab valley of Jammu and Kashmir. On 15th September 1995, staking his life for the safety of his comrades, Captain Arun Singh Jasrotia lobbed grenades & killed all terrorists. He was struck fatally by a bullet in the chest in the process and collapsed due to loss of blood and made supreme sacrifice. He was honored with Sena Medal and Ashok Chakra (posthumously) on 26 January 1996.
